The deceased was allegedly pushed into the pond by a playmate
An eight-year-old boy, Kwabena Kesse, has tragically drowned in a fish pond at Degede, a suburb of the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region.
The deceased, a Class three pupil, reportedly lost his life after going to a nearby pond with friends to swim.
According to a report by adomonline.com on March 20, 2026, the boy’s grandmother, Vivian Amankwaa, said she was at home when one of the children rushed to inform her that her grandson had allegedly been pushed into the pond by a playmate.

She explained that she quickly raised an alarm and called for help from neighbours, noting that she was unwell and had only just returned from the hospital at the time of the incident.
“Residents who responded to the distress call hurried to the scene and managed to retrieve the boy from the pond, but he was found unresponsive,” the report said.
The incident has since been reported to the Police, who have conveyed the body to the morgue and have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
