A group of 80 professionals who decided to go on an adventure from France to Africa, by road, have arrived in Accra six weeks after setting off from the European country.
The group, made up of Doctors, Engineers, Dentists, Lawyers, etc., have travelled through eight countries so far. With the purpose of exploring Africa, they are currently in Accra, Ghana after making various stops in Morrocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Cote D’Ivoire.
With assistance from TopTech Ghana, Road Safety, Transport and Logistics Management Company, the team entered Ghana from Bole in the Northern Region and went through the Mole National Park where they spent two days - using their cars for accommodation.
From Mole, they made a stop at the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary where they spent another two days at the Sanctuary. The journey continued to Cape Coast in Central Region.
There, they visited the Cape Coast Castle, Kankum National Park and then made their way to Accra, the capital city.
TopTech’s responsibility was to help them with transport and logistics as well as a GPS system to navigate their way around the country.
In an interaction with Executive Director of TopTech Ghana, Cecil Ekow Garbrah, “They needed a transport and logistics company to pave way for them. Our team had to make sure that the roads are okay for them. They are using 50% untarred road and TopTech had to do an advance in terms of using our GPS system to go round all the places they wanted to visit.”
He added, “They all have the GPS and we have given them the coordinates and they are driving on their own without any help but with the help of the GPS. And we have arranged with the Ghana Police to provide security at vantage points.”
Some participants speaking to Ghanaweb, said the travel was mainly for tourism, exploring the landscape of the African continent, and to have a personal experience with the people through their culture and various interactions.
Meanwhile, the group leaves tomorrow from Accra and will visit Volta Lake, Wli Water Falls, and Mountain Afadjato and then continue to end of Ghana boarder and enter Togo and then all the vehicles will be enplaned back to France.
They still have two more countries before their expedition ends: Benin and Togo where they finally board an airplane to their various home countries.
