Controversial Musician and political activist Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus is reported to be violating the Presidential directive on Social Gathering.
Sources reveal that A Plus without recourse to measures that have been laid out to the citizenry to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus is holding meetings with Chiefs in various suburbs across the country in relation to The People’s Project (TPP)
MyNewsGh.com has confirmed that a number of meeting meetings have been held at Kasoa, Nima, James Town, Sukura and many others in complete violation of the President’s directive.
Details of the said meetings are related to The People’s Project (TPP) which it gathered, is used to front for development for these communities.
Images sighted by this portal also confirms reports about the said meetings without police taking action in view of the fact that A Plus himself is connected to the top brass at the Regional Police Headquarters
Meanwhile, several persons who have violated the order have been arrested and prosecuted with some serving as long as 4 years in jail while others have been fined.
A Plus declined to comment when reached on phone to speak to the matter of the meetings on whether or not they were not in violation of Presidential directives.
President Akufo-Addo on March 15, 2020, in a televised broadcast by Executive Instrument declared the ban on all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities, and other related events as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.
“All public gatherings, including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious activities, such as services in churches and mosques, have been suspended for the next four (4) weeks. Private burials are permitted, but with limited numbers, not exceeding twenty-five (25) in attendance”, he disclosed.
The ban has since been renewed till the end of May 2020.
