Michael Donyina Mensah, Executive Director of the Centre for Public Awareness and Opinion (CenPOA), revealed that a petition was submitted calling for Madam Jean Mensa’s removal, but President Akufo-Addo did not act on it.

In an exclusive interview with Rainbow Radio’s International Election Watch, he stated that a petition was filed to have the EC Chair removed on the grounds of incompetence and other violations.

He noted that the President failed to process the petition and forward it to the appropriate quarters for consideration.

According to him, after winning office, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) implemented an agenda to remove Mrs. Charlotte Osei from office, but when Jean Mensa’s agenda was presented to him, the government refused to act on it.

Michael Donyina Mensa stated that the current EC Chairperson has demonstrated higher levels of incompetence and has failed to perform her duties as expected.

"We know where this EC Chair came from and the circumstances under which she was appointed. In the same manner that some people sponsored a petition to have Charlotte Osei removed, I am fully aware that a petition was submitted to Akufo-Addo to have Jean Mensa removed. But the President sat on the petition. It appeared he was protecting someone,’’ he said.

He posited the EC Chair may not be working in the interest of anyone, but her posture paints a picture of someone doing the bidding of another person.

He said there are several lapses surrounding the work of the EC and their officials, and if they were honourable individuals, they should resign honourably or be removed.
