Kasapafmonline.com’s investigations into the ADB bribery scandal has revealed that the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, was sidelined by his colleague, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, in all his dealings with the bank.
Dr. Assibey-Yeboah also never benefitted from the GH¢250,000 bribe alleged to have been paid to the Effutu legislature to soften his stance in pushing for parliamentary approval of the Agricultural Development Bank’s (ADB) Initial Public Offer (IPO).
The Economist, together with his friend, Hon. Afenyo-Markin, are currently in Court seeking to restrain the ADB from going ahead with its public offering until it receives parliamentary approval.
Dr. Assibey-Yeboah, per the writ, is the Plaintiff while the Effutu lawmaker, a lawyer by profession, is his Counsel.
But unknown to the Economist, his Counsel had in the process been in constant touch with some officials of the Bank negotiating for a fee to soften his stance on the court case.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin is alleged to have been paid GH¢25,000 by the bank. But he seems not satisfied.
An audio recording which had gone viral on social media platforms and on played severally on some radio stations had a conversation between two men discussing how they plotted against the bank to make some money using the court action against the IPO as bait.
One of them has since been identified as the Effutu legislator while the other is his childhood friend, Kwesi Bonzoh.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin was heard discussing how he could make GH?1million from the bank after which he would go to court “to play gymnastics” for the court to rule in favour of ADB.
He was also heard telling his friend that part of the money advanced to him had been disbursed to some key friends, notably Dr. Assibey-Yeboah and Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, who were involved in the matter.
But our checks have revealed that not a single pesewa was advanced to Dr. Assibey-Yeboah.
The New Juaben South legislator, our investigations revealed, had instructed his Counsel to go the full mile in the case but was shocked to hear his friend whom he had so much respect for compromise his position in the matter.
