Accra, Feb. 27, GNA - Leaders of the African Development Foundation (ADF) a United States government agency that provides investment capital for small-scale businesses in African countries will visit Ghana, starting Sunday, February 27.
The delegation would meet with senior members of the government and visit the production facilities of several newly funded trade and investment projects. The delegation will hold discussions with President John Agyekum Kufuor and the Minister of Private Sector Development on ADF progress in implementing nation-wide trade and investment projects.
The ADF programme, which is supported with 50 percent cash donation from the Ghana government will provide Ghanaian small enterprises with expansion capital targeted towards enhancing trade in domestic, regional and overseas markets. Over the past two years the ADF initiatives has delivered awards of about US $250,000 each to nine Ghanaian companies. ADF strategic partnership with Ghana provides enterprises with catalyst capital, helps them sell their products to the world and secure new private capitals investments.
The ADF President Mr Nathaniel Fields and leader of the delegation said his team is visiting Ghana to review new projects proposals and discuss new ways to expand the programmes impact on enterprises across Ghana. The group would approve new trade and investment projects in Ghana over the next two years. The ADF and the government of Ghana have agreed to commit up to US $ 2 million to support capital investments in at least 40 small-scale enterprises in the country. The American delegation would tour several recently funded projects, including Babex Technology of Adomfe, Genermills of Kumasi, Borbe vegetable oils of Tamale. Others are Wood Company of Madina, Getrade Ghana-Accra and also visit agricultural export projects in Tamale. The delegation will end its tour on March 3.
