Pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) says it will soon embark on an agenda of exposing what they say is the rot in the Ghanaian economy ahead of the general elections.

The group in a statement said its campaign; christened ‘AFAG IN RETROSPECT’ is not aimed at giving the opposition the upper hand but to rather help deepen Ghana’s democracy.

The group which is widely considered as a pro-New Patriotic Party pressure group, has spearhead some demonstrations against government since 2009.

A recently planned demonstration was canceled after the police refused to give the group the needed consent as per the Public Order Act.

A member of the group, Arnold Boateng, has been parrying off accusations of political bias against AFAG.

Mr. Boateng says the group is interested in arming people with the necessary information in order for them to make appropriate voting decisions.

“Our position is to simply recall the issues that we’ve raised since 2009. We’ve raised issues with respect to corruption, with respect to unemployment,” he said.

He said they foresee that possibility of the opposition party cashing in on the work they will do so AFAG will tread cautiously in their quest to help deepen democracy.

“We are not calling the election for the opposition parties, neither are we doing it for any political party for that matter,” he added.
