AMA Boss Must Immediately Resign -ADD

Upon listening to the Presidency and the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Authority, Mr. Alfred Vanderpuje with respect to the twists and turns to the purported presidential fiat calling on the Authority to halt the demolition exercise and the earlier assertion by Mr. Vanderpuje that the President called him and apologised to him; an averment which was later found to be untrue, The Alliance for the Advancement of Democracy, AAD wishes to categorically condemn the action of Mr. Alfred Vanderpuje and are therefore calling on him to immediately resign from his position as the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Authority.

AAD recognises that the office of the President is a high office and for Mr. Vanderpuje to publicly make assertions or claims about the President which is untruth is a bad testimony of his stature and personality.

Mr. Vanderpuje holds a position of public trust and AAD views his current conduct as an action which amounts to a betrayal and a breach of that trust. Being an appointee of the President, we are convinced that, he has acted in bad faith and therefore unfit to hold any public office.

AAd believes that if he refuses to honourably resign, the President must terminate his appointment so as to serve as a deterrent to all public office holders to be more responsible in their comments and actions.

The failure of the President to terminate his appointment will mean that the President has no problem working with public officials who are not committed to acting in good faith and trust. During the 2008 General elections, the President was touted as a man we can trust and must therefore be committed in working with public officials we can trust since his appointees must reflect his character and principles.
