A Circuit Court in Accra has remanded into lawful custody Tawar Ali, a Task Force Officer of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for causing harm to a hawker during an exercise at Abeka Lapaz.

Ali, who is being held for causing harm, has denied the charge.

He is expected to reappear in the court presided over by Mr H. E. Essandoh on December 8.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Francis Tarsan told the court that the complainant, Kwabena Boakye, is a trader whiles Ali is a staff of the AMA, Abeka branch.

On November 11, this year, at about 12:30pm, personnel of AMA embarked on an exercise to drive away street hawkers from pavements at Lapaz.

Chief Inspector Tarsan said during the exercise, an argument ensued between the complainant and the accused person.

Prosecution said Ali got furious and pushed Boakye, who fell to the ground and sustained a deep cut at the back of his head, which bled profusely.

Witnesses around, Prosecution said, rushed Boakye to the Community Hospital where he was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Ali was arrested and handed over to the Police at Lapaz.
