The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mohammed Adjei Sowah has conferred the position of 'Sanitation Ambassador' on Accra-based United Television (UTV) presenter Tweneboah Kodua otherwise known as TK.
He pledged to give all the needed support to the award-winning television presenter to assist the Assembly to educate Ghanaians on keeping a clean society.
According to him, the Assembly needs such collaborations in educating Ghanaians to stay clean and observe sanitation laws.
He said so far the Assembly has created three sanitation courts in Abeka, Lateibiokoshie and Ajabeng all in the efforts in prosecuting sanitation offenders to serve as a deterrent to others.
He noted that ensuring cleanliness is a collective responsibility that need all hands-on deck.
According to the Mayor of Accra, the television presenter’’s tenacity for ensuring a clean society will assist the Assembly’’s quest to make Accra the cleanest city in the West African sub-region.
He stressed that making Accra one of the cleanest cities in the sub-region is one of the cardinal issues on the table of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo since he assumed power.
He was thankful to the president for all the supports, he had offered the Assembly as part of his efforts of making Accra the cleanest city in the Sub-region
The Mayor of Accra conferred sanitation ambassador title on the TV presenter when he appeared on UTV’s morning show programme dubbed ‘’Mpu Ne Mpu” in Accra.
He said the Assembly has made significant progresses under his administration in terms of building the capacity of the Assembly.
He added that for the past two years no single issue of Cholera has been recorded in the city all because of the efforts being rolled out by the Assembly to achieve this dream.
