AMA officials held for embezzlement

Four officials of the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) Head Office have been placed in police custody for allegedly embezzling C23.3 million writes Ivy Aboagye in the Daily Graphic.

They include Samuel Quaye, 44, Chief Cashier, Daniel Otoo, 42, Revenue Inspector, G.D. Awere, 40, Senior Accounts Officer ad Alhassan Bawa, 34, Revenue Inspector.

According to Mr Nat Nunoo-Amarteifio, Chief Executive of the AMA, the embezzlement was detected when the accounts of the interdicted officials were audited. Clottey is alleged to have embezzled C12 million whilst Otoo, Bawa and Awere embezzled C5.4 million, C3 million and C2.9 million respectively.
