Agona Swedru, Jan 16, GNA - The South Ghana Conference of Ministerial Council of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church has called on political party leaders and supporters to conduct clean and decent campaign devoid of insults and acrimony.
The Church also appealed to the youth not to allow themselves to be induced with drugs and alcohol to create confusion and trouble during and after the elections.
The Church made the call at a two-day ministerial meeting of pastors and their spouses at Agona Swedru.
It said the nation needed free, fair and peaceful elections to continue with its democratization process.
The Reverend John K. Napoleon Commey, Bishops Administrative Assistance of South Ghana Conference of AME Zion Church, appealed to the government to offer adequate financial support to Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct the elections devoid of violence.
He called on politicians to desist from giving big promises which were very difficult to fulfill and that politicians should be able to tolerate each other’s views and ideas.
He said political parties should abide by the political code of ethics to ensure peace and stability in the country.
