The Bishop Administrative Assistant of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church, West Ghana Conference, Reverend Mrs. Helena S. Essien has urged the youth to let God be the focus of their lives, to enable them to resist temptations, especially from peer pressure.
She said if the youth allow God to take the lead in all that they do, she hoped it will be well with them, rather than indulge in immoral activities, like drug abuse, internet fraud, popularly known as SAKAWA , which at the end of the day will ruin their lives.
Rev. Mrs. Essien said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the close of a special thanksgiving service to climax activities of a-four day youth conference in connection with the church's 50th Anniversary celebration held at Winneba.
The theme of the programme “West Ghana Youth, Building a Legacy with God for Such a Time Like this,” was attended by over 500 youth from the West Ghana Conference of AME Zion Church.
She said AME Zion West Ghana Conference is made up of Churches from Cape Coast, Akim Manso, Agona, Akim Akroso, Sekondi, Wassa, Assin Foso and Winneba.
According to her, the period was used by the youth to take stock of the previous year’s activities, formulate policies and strategize to build a legacy with God for the days ahead
Rev. Mrs. Essien who deputized for the Presiding Primate of West Ghana Conference, Right Rev. Bishop Dr. Seth Lartey said, as future leaders, the youth needs to be properly counseled and directed through the Word of God, to help them desist from all negative tendencies, else there will be no future for the country.
He advised the youth to give the greatest care and respect to their parents, as well as any person older than them, humble themselves, be truthful and avoid indecent dressing, so that the blessing of God will be upon them always, and it will be well with them.
Earlier, preaching the Gospel on the topic “Give me the Mount, ” Rev. Sylvester Donkoh, District Director of the Cape Coast AME Zion Church, said it was about time as a Nation and people, we must invite God into our affairs and all will be well with us.
Rev. Donkoh who is also the West Ghana Conference Deputy Youth Coordinator, said with faith, determination, perseverance in Lord Almighty, the development and growth of the country will be attained as He did unto the Israelites..
