Offinso (Ash), May 14, GNA - Mrs Florence Tweneboah-Kodua, Managing Director of Florano Enterprise, dealers in children's wear, was at the weekend honoured by the Bishop Small African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion church in Kumasi for her dedication to the cause of the poor and needy in the church at a ceremony at Ampabame in the Offinso District of Ashanti.
Mrs Tweneboah-Kodua, who was initiated into the Life Members Council of the Church, was presented with a red collar and certificate of honour in recognition of her good deeds. A citation accompanying the certificate of honour read in part, "The Church would always remember your commitment to helping widows, orphans and the under-privileged to enable them to have a decent living".
The Reverend Ben Mills, Presiding Elder of the Kumasi District of the Church, who decorated Mrs Tweneboah-Koduah with the red collar, in a sermon called on women to rededicate themselves to playing a pivotal role in the Church's development.
He pointed out that since time immemorial women had been supportive of both the spiritual and physical development of the Church, saying, it behoved the present generation of Christian women therefore to follow the exemplary leadership of the biblical Esther, Lydia and Dorcas, who were all committed to the growth of Christianity. The Rev Mills also cautioned church leaders not to marginalize women in their activities since the Holy Bible did not discriminate against women.
He noted that the Church would not hesitate to give the necessary recognition to women who showed exemplary leadership and as a result admonished women in the church to strive for success in all their endeavours.
Mrs Tweneboah-Koduah expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Church for honouring her and gave the assurance that she would continue with her good works, in spite of the challenges that come with it.
