Founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has said heads must roll if Government of Ghana signed a deal with a company with questionable references.
Dr. Nduom’s call is in reference to a report by Norwegian newspaper, VG, that the Power Ministry entered into an arrangement to secure a 250MW power plant with a company of dubious background and that the transaction amount of $510 million is inflated compared to other options.
Dr. Nduom in a Facebook post raised certain questions, which according to him, need answers quickly, otherwise, heads must roll.
Dr Nduom asks, “Is it true that the deal was signed with a company with questionable references?”
“Are the principals of Ameri Group a Dubai prince and Umar Farook Zahoor a man wanted for several fraudulent acts in Europe?
“Is the price tag for the deal inflated? Did cabinet and the presidency do proper due diligence on the Ameri Group and the pricing of the deal given that previous international transactions have suffered credibility tests after the fact? Reference CNTCI and STX Korea?
“Is power from this transaction an influencing factor in the recent electricity price hike?” he asked.
Meanwhile, the Power Ministry has responded to the publication, describing if as false.
