AWW by-election violence victim still on admission - Airport Crime Officer

Crime Officer for the Airport Police Division, Supt. Kingsley Aboagye has revealed that one person who got injured in the violent clashes at La Bawaleshie during the Ayawaso West Wuogon polls is still receiving treatment at the 37 military hospital a month after the incident.

He revealed this while updating the Short Commission on the status of the victims' medical reports.

Supt. Aboagye noted that 8 of the victims are yet to return the medical forms which were given to them for treatment.

"The gentleman who was admitted is still on admission at the 37 hospital," he said.

"Most of them said they were out of Accra. Eight are yet to return their medical reports," he added.

He informed the Commission that the victims were issued medical forms individually to the doctors and were expected to return it to the police afterwards.

Several persons were reportedly injured in violent clashes at the La Bawaleshie polling centre during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections.

Some sustained gunshot wounds whilst others were reportedly brutalised by the National Security operatives who were there for an operation.

One of the victims who was shot in the leg was reported to have been informed by doctors that he could lose his leg as the way to save his life.
