Gomoa Okyereko (C/R), Feb 14, GNA - Adolph Binga, a 10-year old Ivorian who claimed his stepmother brought him from Abidjan and abandoned him in Accra last month is now in the care of the Winneba Police.

A Good Samaritan, one Mr Matthew Awesi of the Taisei Construction Company, met Binga on January 27 walking to Abidjan and sent him to the Winneba Police Station.

Assistant Superintendent Nicholas Gasu, the Winneba District Police Commander, told the GNA that Binga could speak only French and told the police through an interpreter that his step mother, Madam Salitan rpt. Salitan on arrival in Accra, asked him to wait for her in front of some stores while she went to buy some items but never returned.

He said Binga gave his parents names as Mr Joseph Binga and Mrs Elina Binga, both resident in CoCody, suburb of Abidjan.

Mr Gasu said efforts were being made to hand Binga over to the Ivorian Embassy.
