Abedi Pele
Deputy captain of the Black Stars Andre Dede Ayew has revealed his father Abedi Ayew Pele has given up on his bid to become president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Abedi, a three-time African Player of the Year and former Black Stars skipper who also served as vice president of the Ghana Football Association in the early 2000s had ambitions of running for the top job at some point.
The Ghana football legend was also backed recently by a section of the Atta Mills-led government to run for the CAF Executive Committee position which Nyantakyi won eventually.
With the recent impasse between the current Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye and the GFA, reports have emerged that Abedi Ayew will revive his plans to run for the GFA presidency, but his son Andre Ayew has come out to debunked such reports.
“My father does not want to become GFA president anymore. His ambition has changed.” He told Starr FM.
