Abena Osei-Asare, the Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, has launched her campaign ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Various campaign groups, including the operations group and IT group, were inaugurated in Atiwa East to embark on a massive campaign by visiting houses, institutions, and organizations in preparation for the December polls.

At the campaign launch, some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the Atiwa East Constituency defected to join the NPP.

Speaking at the mini-rally, attended by Chief Imams from the Zongo communities, traditional leaders, clergy, and party members, she assured that the campaign activities would be conducted peacefully within the constituency.

The Minister, Abena Osei-Asare, also implored the constituents to vote overwhelmingly for the NPP in the upcoming general elections to continue advancing the developmental agenda for the country.

Abena Osei-Asare remarked that the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war had revealed fundamental structural weaknesses in Ghana’s economy, adding that President Akufo-Addo and his government had effectively managed the challenging situation.

She further stated that Dr. Bawumia has pledged to sustain all the beneficial policies initiated and implemented by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, particularly highlighting the free SHS policy.

She added that the numerous infrastructural projects started by the Akufo-Addo government would be continued and completed under Dr. Bawumia's leadership, while other transformative social intervention policies would also be maintained to provide relief to the populace.

Speaking of the achievements of the New Patriotic Party's flagbearer, Ms. Osei-Asare commended Dr. Bawumia for admirably fulfilling his duties as Vice President.

She noted that Dr. Bawumia, as Vice President, oversaw the digitalization of the country, leading to a "No Guarantor system" for student loan applications, the introduction of a medical drone delivery system, digitizing the operations of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), reducing fraudulent claims, and eliminating bottlenecks in the enrollment and renewal of National Health Insurance memberships, thereby increasing access to healthcare for those in greatest need, among other accomplishments.

She indicated that Dr. Bawumia's vision, which has significantly improved the lives of Ghanaians, would continue to be realized under his presidency, transforming Ghana.

She also seized the opportunity to advocate for peaceful elections before, during, and after the 2024 election.
