Abetifi citizens provide accommodation for Police personnel

Abetifi (E/R), July 30 GNA - A sod-cutting ceremony took place at Abetifi for the construction of 150-million-cedi two-unit two-bedroom quarters for Police personnel at Abetifi in the Kwahu South District to enhance security in the area.

Abetifi citizens in Canada and those at home are financing it with the District Assembly.

Addressing the chiefs and people at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Osafo-Djan, said with the establishment of the Presbyterian University Collage (P.U.C), four second-cycle and other basic schools in the town, there was the need to improve security in the town.

He said the Assembly was rehabilitating structures at Adawso, Kotoso, Sempoa and Bepong for the establishment of Police Posts to improve security in the district.

The DCE advised the community provide regular communal labour to ensure the early completion of the project to provide decent accommodation for the police personnel.

The Assembly member for the area, Agya Ampate, said Abetifi citizens in Canada had provided 28 million cedis for the first phase of the project, while the Abetifi Mma, a benevolent society of citizens resident in Accra were rehabilitating a four-bedroom rented quarters at the cost of 8.5 million cedis for personnel posted to the town. He appealed to the community, NGOs and philanthropists to contribute towards the completion of the project. July 30, 04
