“I think it was not properly thought through….how on earth could Nana Akufo Addo fail to condemn Kennedy Agyepong’s attack on President Kufuor and Kwadwo Mpiani? How on earth could he fail to do that?” queried the Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah.

The Deputy Minister who also doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu constituency was speaking to the issue of Nana Akufo Addo’s recent Press conference.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led a Press Conference on Friday to speak to the internal wrangling in the party. Read Akufo Addo’s full statement.

Speaking to various issues raised by Nana Addo in his address, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji that Nana Addo needed to have singled out Kennedy Agyepong for condemnation over his unfair accusation of former President Kufuor.

Kennedy Agyepong, MP for Assin North constituency, following the acid attack on the late Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, is reported to have laid blame at the doorsteps of former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani and his boss (Ex-Prex Kufuor?), General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and National Chairman Paul Afoko: “They are behind it. Kwadwo Mpani, I hope you are satisfied...Kwabena Agyepong you are satisfied. Afoko you are satisfied. You will never have peace of mind. It won't work, I tell you. Kwabena Agyepong, who is he? Who is Afoko? I brought Kwabena Agyepong. I will show him we brought him...Kwadwo Mpiani and his boss, I have said it; nobody deserves to die in this party. We have helped them to come to power. They have made money which they are now using to kill people...Kwadwo Mpiani's bodyguard said he will kill me...I say we will fight...aaaahhhhh....Kwadwo Mpaini, you and your boss, you are satisfied. You have ruled...we are not afraid of anybody."

It is in this vein that Okudzeto Ablakwa believes Nana Addo should have condemned Kennedy Agyepong for ‘wrongly’ accusing a man he wants to follow his legacy.

“I think it was not properly thought through….how on earth could Nana Akufo-Addo fail to condemn Kennedy Agyepong’s attack on President Kufuor and Kwadwo Mpiani? How on earth could he fail to do that? This is a man you want to succeed; you want to run on the legacy of President Kufuor…this was not the time for general statements…it was a time for you to name and shame…I was most disappointed; I don’t know if he drafted this statement himself…I was most disappointed….i was most shocked…nobody needs to be accused of murder without any evidence…” Okudzeto Ablakwa said.
