Lawyers for the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, led by Thaddeus Sory, have objected to the Court of Appeal Panel hearing the case in which Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng has filed a defamation suit.

The suit aims to restrain the MP from discussing him in relation to the National Cathedral project.

The MP’s legal team has objected to the Judicial Secretary, Justice Cynthia Pamela A. Koranteng, chairing the Court of Appeal panel for allegedly replacing Justice Senyo Dzamefe as the president of the panel.

The lawyers had also earlier claimed that the appellant, Rev. Kusi Boateng, is the Chief Justice’s pastor and spiritual father.

Having failed on two previous occasions, this is the third attempt by Rev. Kusi Boateng to restrain the MP.

Rev. Kusi Boateng, a beleaguered member of the National Cathedral Project’s board of trustees, faced another setback in July 2023 when the Human Rights Court dismissed a similar application in May.

Now, Rev. Boateng’s legal team has presented new arguments, hoping to reverse their fortunes in a high-profile legal dispute that has attracted significant media attention.

Thaddeus Sory asserts that the court panel has been reconstituted, with Justice Dzamefe removed from the original lineup.

Sory contends that this change deviates from standard procedures.

However, Bobby Banson, representing Rev. Kusi Boateng, counters that Sory’s claim is merely hearsay and lacks a legal foundation.

The judges are currently deliberating whether to issue a ruling on the matter.
