Ablenkpe roads deteriorates - Residents cry

Residents of Abelenkpe on Tuesday issued a distressed call to government through the Department of Urban Roads for the rehabilitation of roads within the community.

The surface of portions of the road around the main Mosque, down to Mawako Restaurant and the one beside the Evangelical Presbyterian Church was washed away by the recent heavy rains.

The situation has created huge holes and exposed rocks on the surface of the road thereby impeding both human and vehicular traffic.

Mrs Eunice Amoako-Attah a resident told Ghana News Agency (GNA): “Our double agony is that the road also becomes very slippery and muddy anytime it rains, thus if you pack your car at the side of the main road, you will have to walk through the mud.

“Now thieves are also taking advantage of the situation and tempering with cars packed beside the main road.”

She therefore appealed to the city authorities and government to respond quickly to the deteriorated roads in the area.

Mr Franck Atiase a resident told the GNA that the rickety nature of the road is a major concern of residents.

He appealed to government and city authorities to respond to the cry of the people for the construction of the roads, to enhance the development of the area.

“Over here our major need is for government to fix this road which is less than five kilometers long,” he said.

Mr Owusu Ansah another affected resident called on the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wugoon, Metropolitan Authorities, Department of Urban Roads to intervene quickly to construct the roads.
