Abuakwa-Ashanti, May 12, GNA - The Abuakwa police has mounted an intensive search for Agya Mallam alias Osama, a 62-year-old night watchman of Topman Farms Limited at Ntensere near Akropong in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district of Ashanti for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old pupil of the Ntensere District Assembly Primary School. According to a police source, on April 24, this year at 1430 hours (2.30 pm), the victim went out to play and whilst returning home, the suspect who lived in the same vicinity with the victim, was standing in front of his room and signalled the victim to come over for something. The source said when the victim obliged, Agya Mallam held her and dragged her into his room and defiled her.
It said after the act, the suspect threatened her not to disclose it to anyone otherwise she would die.
The source said later, an aunt of the victim who had been out of town for sometime returned to realise that the victim's movement had changed and looked pale.
She then confronted the victim who disclosed the ordeal to her. It said a report was made to the police and a medical form issued to victim later confirmed that she had been defiled. 12 May 06
