All activities were brought to a stand still in the Chiana Paga constituency when the NDC elected parliamentary Candidate for the constituency stormed the area to officially launch is bid for a second time return to the house of Legislature
The event which was very well attended by NDC Party faithfuls, was also graced by high profile government Official and Party Executives in the Upper East Region.
Among the party and the government officials who graced the occasion were Nii Deputy East Regional Minister Hon. Lucy Awuni Mbun , NDC Parliamentary Candidate in the Upper East Region, Municipal Chief Executive Officers in the Region and fellow aspirants who Contested Abuga Pele in the NDC Primary.
The National Youth and Employment Boss lost the Parliament seat to the NPP Candidate due to unresolved internal wrangling in the party that led key members contest as independent and therefore splited the the NDC vote and paved way for the |NPP candidate sneak through.
After resolving the problems of the past, party faithfuls are in high spirit as the area has for long been considered a stronghold of the Ruling National Democratic Congress, a claimed confirmed by the fact that the then Presidential candidate Prof Mills’ won the Presidential election in the area.
Speaking at the launch, the deputy national coordinator in charge of persons with disability of the National Youth employment Program took a swipe at the NPP for failing to honor their campaign promises.
He said the NPP is a party full of deception and lies and therefore, the people could not afford to trust them again.
Taking his turn to address the crowd, the man whose name had ensured that every activity outside of politics gridded to a halt in the constituency, Hon Abuga Pele thanked everybody present for honoring the invitation to the campaign launch.
He said that the enthusiasm and ones in purpose shown by the people at the campaign launch is a clear indication that the party is back to reclaim the constituency from the NPP who to him, had failed to deliver on their many promises to the people.
“We went on partial leave and have come back to reclaim what is rightfully ours because the NPP failed to repay the people support with hard work” he said
He further called on the people to vote massively for President John Mahama who according to him represent unity and gives credence to the fact that all persons are equal and that there was no tribe superior to the other .
The platform was also used to welcome the former Northern Regional Secretary of the Convention People’s Party, Dr Albert Afugu who has defected to the NDC in acknowledgement of the good works of the NDC party since they took over from the NPP in 2008.
Addressing the crowd after shouting the famous NDC slogan “ ehe edzo bodoo”, Dr Afugu called on party faithfuls to keep propagating the good works of the party and fully pledged his unconditional support and contribution to ensure that the the remains in power for a very longtime.
The views of party sympathizers was was also sorted and the people had this to say.
An old woman fully decorated NDC colors had this to say “ The worse decision we ever made over looking Abuga Pele in the last elections”. Despite the fact that he is not currently our member of parliament, he is the one all the people in this constituency go to to and not the one we voted for” she added.
A young man who was dressed in the T Shirt of “Friend of abuga Pele” a youth group established by the youth of the area to galvanize for vote for Abuga Pele also had this to say. “I was amongst those who went from house to house to ensure that Hon. Abuga loose in 2008, I must admit that we have regretted voting out this man because after the painful defeat, he still remains the one we still turn to”
He pledged that just as they did all they could to ensure that Hon. Abuga Pele loose the seat in the previous election, they would double that effort to ensure that he is reassigned to represent them in Parliament.
