The Mathematics tutor of Aburi Girls School, Mr. Daniel Agyarko Yeboah who was accused of allegedly fondling and sending ‘love notes’ to some of the students has been sacked.
The termination of his appointment, which is based on recommendations of a committee’s report is without prejudice to any criminal charges that the Police might prefer against him.
A letter to that effect, which was sent to Mr. Yeboah was received on his behalf by his father at Nsawam since he is nowhere to be found.
The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Grace Ansah Otoo who disclosed this in an interview with the Daily Graphic said the school’s Board of Governors approved the recommendations when it met on the issue on April 20.
Meanwhile the Minister of Education in charge of Girl Child Education, Ms. Christine Churcher has disclosed that the Ghana Education Service (GES) would conduct its own investigations into the matter when school reopens.
She however noted that the GES’ investigation is not to downplay the committees report but to ensure that problems in the school are solved to forestall any future occurrences. On whether the GES would prefer legal charges against Mr. Yeboah, she noted that it would be decided after the investigations by GES since the ethics for teachers makes room for legal action to be taken against offending teachers.
