Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has urged the presidential candidates contesting the December 2012 polls on Friday to accept the outcome of the elections to preserve the peace.
Speaking to journalists after the consecration of five new bishops, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said every flag bearer must be determined to do right in the pursuit of power and in winning the elections.
“It is not just having power but how you attain the power. So let’s also watch the process of getting the power. This is what will determine whether there is peace or not because if you get power the wrong way you can create any kind of situation but if you get it the right way then everyone is at peace,” he said.
He said although many candidates are running the race only one would win and urged the winner to be gracious in victory and the losers to humbly respect the will and the choice of the people.
He urged the Electoral Commission not to bow to pressure but have the fortitude to stand up for what is right, adding that the body must stand for the truth as it had done previous in elections.
The EC must not let any pressure to persuade them to go in any direction that might have consequences for the nations.
Advising the new Bishops, Archbishop Duncan-Williams asked them to see beyond the impossible and make efforts to grow and nurture leaders for God’s church and work.
He said they must follow Christ in all circumstances.
The new bishops are Ebenezer Obodai, James Nana Ofori Atta, Derek Nunekpeku, Kwabena Otoo and Gideon Titi Ofei.
