Accident victims buried

Suhum, (E/R) April 17, GNA - The Reverend Sylvester Opoku, Pastor in-charge of Bethany Church, Suhum in the Eastern Region has expressed worry about the way people regarded funerals as merry making events and later incurred debts for the bereaved family. He said whatever sad events that occurred in ones life should be regarded as part of God's intervention and not for merry making.

Rev. Opoku was delivering a pre-burial sermon for two sisters who were among 15 passengers killed on March 25 in a road accident at Mamfe Akuapem and were buried at Amenhia near Suhum at the weekend. The victims were Regina Korkor Brefobeey, a 52 year-old farmer and Comfort Maku Brefobeey, a 48 year-old tomatoes seller. He said even though the two sisters were not prepared at that time, "God needed their services at that hour." Pastor Opoku said as Christians, one should expect to die at any time and that what was expected was for all to pray for the soul of the deceased

Pastor Opoku asked the family members not to apportion blame to any aged person as responsible for the cause of the accident. On March 25 this year, a Benz bus with registration number 4687, travelling from Kodiabe to Suhum was involved in an accident at a spot near Mamfe Akuapem killing 12 people on the spot and three died later at the hospital.
