It is estimated that government spends over ?1.5 billion a month on the collection of garbage, and keeping the Accra metropolis clean.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Sheikh I.C. Quaye, who made this disclosure in a chat with the paper noted that even though the amount looks huge, it is inadequate to meet the numerous sanitation problems facing the city.
He stressed that the issue of plastic waste, which litters the city, is becoming unbearable for the city authorities to ensure that the city is clean.
