Accra to be regenerated - Kufuor

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Thursday said Accra, the capital city, would be regenerated.

"Government will give the necessary assistance to Accra Metropolitan Authority to turn the city into a true gateway to the Sub-Region and enhance its aesthetic appeal," he said in his third State of the Nation Address to Parliament.

President Kufuor said a Redevelopment Project for Old Accra, designed by the government and UNESCO, was due to be launched later this month.

The President said this would lead to the regeneration of the old parts of the city and bring business to the area.
