The Achimota Senior High School has backed calls for the release of lawyer Elorm Ama Ababio, popularly known as Ama Governor, after her arrest while participating in the Democracy Hub demonstration, which aims at clamping down on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
In a post on social media, the school attached Ama Governor's photo with an inscription indicating that she is an old student of the school and completed in 2016.
The post was accompanied by hashtags: #FreeTheRealAkoraElormAmaAbabio, #OAA2016, #FreeTheCitizens, #StopGalamseyNow, and #SayNoToGalamsey.
Ama Governor is among many people who demonstrated under the leadership of Democracy Hub, aimed at demanding a crackdown on illegal mining.
These demonstrators find themselves remanded by the court over the unlawful act.
However, many stakeholders have called for their release.
