Achuliwor to be buried on March 15

Government was on Friday officially informed of the death of Mr John Setuni Achuliwor, MP for Navrongo Central in the Upper East Region.

Mr. Achuliwor died through a motor accident at Manhyia in the Ashanti Region on January 29.

Mr. Abdallah Otito Achuliwor, Junior brother of the deceased and a family spokesman who accompanied the delegation to inform President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu said the deceased would be buried at Navrongo on Saturday, March 15.

He said other programmes drawn for the burial were a mass service at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Thursday, March 13 before the body would be airlifted to Navrongo on Friday, March 14 for wake-keeping before burial at the family cemetery, the following day.

Mr Achuliwor said a thanksgiving service would be held on Sunday, March 16 to be followed by another one at the Christ the King Church in Accra on Sunday, March 23.

President Kufuor said the death of Mr Achuliwor was a great loss not only to the bereaved family but the New Patriotic Party (NPP), government and Ghana.

He said the late Achuliwor, showed much promise in his political career and was someone destined do something for his country.

President Kufuor said, "how could such a promising person go just like that? It is not for us mortals to continue asking questions on the destiny of people as to why such things happen".

"When such things happen, we have to fall back on our faith and belief that God arranges things for us".

Signing a Book of Condolence, President Kufuor wrote " My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on the death of my friend and colleague,

Mr John Setuni Achuliwor. May he rest in peace".

Mr Salifu Mahami, Upper East Regional Minister who led the delegation in a tribute said the late Achuliwor was one of the promising young politicians who dedicated his life to ensure the NPP took root in the region.

He described Mr Achuliwor as a visionary and selfless fighter who contributed his quota to the development of the region.

The late Achuliwor left behind a wife Mrs Bridget Ify Achuliwor and five children, three boys and two girls.
