The planning committee for the first Anniversary of the passing on of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills has announced the programme of activities to mark the event.
The programme includes a Choral Concert at the National Theatre on Sunday July 21, to mark the birthday of the late President Atta-Mills.
On Monday July 22, there would be the first in the series of Annual Atta-Mills Memorial Lectures at the Accra International Conference Centre.
A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi, chairman of the planning committee said on Wednesday July 24, a remembrance ceremony would be held at the Asomdwee Park to observe the exact date and time of the passing away of the late president.
It said this would be followed by an international hockey gala at the Accra hockey pitch.
It said on Friday July 26, there would be Moslem prayers, and on Saturday, July 27, a foundation-stone laying ceremony would be held at Cape Coast towards the construction of the Atta-Mills Memorial Research Library, which would be affiliated to the University of Cape Coast.
The statement further said on Sunday July 28, a non-denominational Church service would be held at the Robert Mensah Stadium (Siwdu Park), Cape Coast, for the late president.
It also said Regional Ministers would, in conjunction with the Municipal and District Assemblies, organize activities to observe July 24, the day the late president passed on.
“This will be in addition to other activities they may organise as they deem fit during the celebration period from July 21-July 28 this year,” it added.
