The Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante-Apeatu has assured acts of lawlessness dotted around Ghana after the change of government will halt.

Speaking during his induction ceremony in Accra, he stressed those who feel they are “above the law” will incur the wrath of his men.

“I want to assure the people of Ghana that under my leadership as IGP, I will ensure that there is accountability and a high sense of integrity among police officers,” Mr. Asante-Apeatu told the congregation at the Ghana Police Church.

“We will discharge our duties in an impartial manner to make sure that no individual is seen to be above the law, so acts of lawlessness will not be countenanced,” he said.

He was grateful to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his appointment.

The Director of Religious Affairs of the Service Very Rev. Fr George Arthur tasked the IGP to neutralize vigilante groups in the country.

Recently, pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante groups, the Invisible Forces, Delta Forces and Khandahar Boys have visited mayhem on some communities over what they termed as their displeasure in President Akufo-Addo’s appointments.

Over 13 members of the Delta Forces whose jurisdiction is within the Ashanti region are standing trial for assaulting the Regional Security Coordinator.
