Odoben (C/R), Oct 15, GNA - Dr Mumuni Bawumia, the running mate of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Wednesday said acts of violence does not play a role in winning an election and must be abhorred by all.
He said "winning an election does not mean fighting, provocation, insult, or division; it is rather to let the people know what you have done and why you should be given a chance to rule or continue with your good works."
Speaking at a rally at Odoben in the Asikum-Odoben-Brakwa District as part of a week campaign tour in the Central Region, Dr Bawumia, therefore, urged NPP party members to eschew the usage of indecent language in their campaign messages and not be part of violence but rather sensitize electorates to vote wisely. He also advised Ghanaians to never make a mistake of voting for the NDC to return to government and said a government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the NPP would continue with the good foundation laid by President John Agyekum Kufour to better develop the country.
Dr Bawumia told electorates not hesitate to compare the achievements made by President Kufour and that of the previous government to determine who had vision for the people to ensure comfortable and healthy life. He said education was an important sector of the economy and reiterated that when Nana Akufo-Addo was voted into office come December 7, 2008, Senior High School education would be made free. Other speakers at the rally were Alhaji Jebiril, Central Regional Organiser, Mr Paul C. Appiah Ofori, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alhaji Jawula, former Ghana Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Grunsah, Chief Executive of Kumasi Faisal Football Club and Kwamena Bartels, MP for Ablekuma North.
Mr Paul C. Appiah Ofori later introduced two defeated NDC members in the constituency, who have joined the NPP to the gathering. They were Women Organizer Madam Gloria Yamson and Alex Oppong.
