Fomena (Ash), June 9, GNA - The Adansi North District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (DMHIS), which faced initial problems as a result of the creation of the district out of the former Adansi West and East districts, is now making modest progress.
At the moment, a total of 25,417 people had registered with the scheme, out of which 580 are from the formal sector. Mr Richard Sarkodie, the Scheme Manager for Adansi South and Mr Albert Attah, the Public Relations Officer, who are currently assisting the Adansi North scheme, told newsmen at Fomena on Thursday that 530 people in the Asokwa section of the district had been issued with identity cards with 250 persons having benefited from the scheme. Mr Sarkodie said currently, 12,000 people, who had taken their photographs, were waiting for the issuance of their identity cards. The Asokwa constituency of the district was already benefiting from the scheme, whilst that of the Fomena constituency was at the photo-taking stage", he said.
The Adansi South Scheme Manager said together with his PRO, they had embarked on massive education on registration and premium collection exercise, which was yielding results. Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive said the assembly had built an office, secured two computers and had appointed an interim manager for the effective management of the scheme in the new district.
He, therefore, appealed to the National Health Insurance Council (NHIC) for support to enable the assembly to take-off fully on its own.
