Adansi South District records 650 disaster cases in 2004

Kojo Yentumi(Ash), Dec.15, GNA - The Adansi South District Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) recorded 650 disaster cases in 2004. The disasters included fire outbreaks, rainstorm and flooding. Mr Kwame Owusu-Buahen, Adansi South District NADMO Co-ordinator, announced this at the district's World Disaster Day celebration at Kojo Yentumi. He said about 250 people who were affected by the disasters were assisted with cement, roofing sheets, mattresses and household items.

Kojo Yentumi(Ash), Dec.15, GNA - The Adansi South District Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) recorded 650 disaster cases in 2004. The disasters included fire outbreaks, rainstorm and flooding. Mr Kwame Owusu-Buahen, Adansi South District NADMO Co-ordinator, announced this at the district's World Disaster Day celebration at Kojo Yentumi. He said about 250 people who were affected by the disasters were assisted with cement, roofing sheets, mattresses and household items. Mr Owusu-Buahen said the assembly had released 50 million cedis to the Secretariat to undertake disaster prevention and management education within the district. He said the Secretariat had purchased about 100 seedlings to be planted to serve as windbreaks and also to beautify communities within the district. Mr Francis Dorpenyo, Adansi South District Chief Executive advised parents to send their children to school. He said introduction of the Capitation grant was to enable children have access to education and urged parents to take advantage of the grant to educate their children.
