Lead Counsel in the Election Petition trial, Philip Addison has said the final result of the eight-month long case declared by the Supreme Court was disappointing after exposing all the inconsistencies in the 2012 presidential polls.
In his opinion, the fairest verdict should have been a call for re-run of the polls.
“I was very much disappointed. I think everybody saw the evidence that we adduced before the court. I think the fairest verdict should have been a re-run,” noted Mr. Addison.
He was reacting to a question by Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Monday.
Banson had asked him if he ever felt disappointed over the verdict that was announced by the Supreme Court after hearing the Election Petition brought before it by the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice, Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia and Jake Obestsebi Lamptey, then National Chairman of the party.
The petitioners had cited massive electoral malpractices and irregularities in the 2012 Presidential election that was won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
When asked if he had any clue as to what went into the verdict, Mr. Addison who is seeking to become the NPP parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey responded “We’ve heard all kinds of stories until the day that one of them will come and say this and that happened, it will just be conjecturing,” he said.
