(WASS) Airborne Students Cadet Corps on Friday, organised a handing over ceremony at the school's premises at Adenta in the Greater-Accra Region. The outgoing Commanding Officer (CO), Mr. Alhassan Mohammed handed over the baton of office to the incoming Junior Under Officer Seth Blasu.

Mr. Benjamin F. Sarpong, an Executive of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) reviewed the parade on behalf of the National Cadet Co-ordinator, Mr. Nicholas Nii Tetteh. Sixty Cadets including five officers who were on parade displayed magnificent drills to the admiration of the spectators.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr. Gilbert K. Adukpo commended past students through whose efforts the cadet corps was established. He noted that the first attempt at forming a Fire Cadet Corps at the school did not survive. The Headmaster stated that the present Air-borne Cadet Corps was established in February last year.

Mr. Adukpo said that the skills and lessons learnt during their training placed them in a better position to achieve their aim in life. He said he was always very happy when he saw the Cadets counselling some of the students and urged them to use persuasion in resolving issues. The Headmaster announced that the Cadet Corps would be inaugurated in November this year.

Some Cadet Under Officers were presented certificates of honour and textbooks for excelling in various disciplines. They were Cadet Under Officer Yusif Adams for being the most disciplined Cadet, Private Zac Awuye, Best Junior Cadet while the best in drills went to Cadet Under Officer Ofosu Yvonne. The best in Academics went to WO1 Dabor Moses; the Most Committed Cadet, Junior Under Officer Blasu Seth while the Best in Physical Training went to Cadet Sergeant Quarshie Daniel.

The Overall Best Cadet was Senior Under Officer Alhassan Mohammed. Present at the parade was the Madina Saint Andrews JSS Parade Band, Cadets from the Ghana Armed Forces Secondary Technical School, Burma-Camp, Saint Magaret-Mary Secondary Technical School, Dansoman, Adukrom Secondary Technical, Ebenezer Secondary School, O'Reilly Secondary School, Accra Academy, Legon Presby Boys Secondary, Kaneshie Secondary Technical, Kinbu Secondary Technical and students of WASS.
