The Adentan-Dodowa Road Dualisation Project, initiated in May 2024, is making steady progress with one lane from Adentan to Dodowa almost complete, with sections of the opposite side also being worked on simultaneously, including culvert extensions.

The inter-regional project was officially launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and is being executed by Oswal Investments Limited, a local Ghanaian construction company.

The upgrade will transform the existing 22-kilometer single-carriageway road into a dual carriageway, with service lanes from Adenta to Oyibi. It will then reduce into a dual carriageway from Oyibi to Dodowa.

Junction improvements, drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, street lighting, traffic management, and other road furnishings will also be included.

Upon completion, the dualisation is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, particularly for travelers between the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta regions.

The contractor, Oswal Investments Limited, is currently on-site working towards completing the project within the 24-month timeline.

Recent site inspections by GhanaWeb revealed significant progress.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, President Akufo-Addo emphasised the project's role in boosting regional trade, cutting travel times, and improving road safety as part of the government’s broader plan to upgrade major highways across the country.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, also highlighted the road's economic importance in facilitating efficient travel and trade between the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.

Asenso-Boakye also encouraged residents along the project corridor to be patient with the contractor as the work progresses.

"With construction in full swing, motorists and travelers may experience some inconveniences on the road. I, therefore, urge motorists, local residents, and other stakeholders to exercise caution and follow safety protocols established by the contractor," Asenso-Boakye said.
