Journalist and Host of Badwam on Adom TV, Omanhene Kwabena Asante, has described the lecture of the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central at the Economic Lecture Series organised by the opposition NDC as a lecture full of ‘Concert Party’ which is performed at the National Theatre.

According to him, the first three speakers on the day said nothing substantial. He said apart from John Jinapor who raised some pertinent issues, the whole Economic Lecture Series was meaningless.

“My expectation from their almighty Adongo was not this crèche lecture. What did Adongo tell Ghanaians….he was speaking to himself”, ‘angry’ Omanhene said on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM.

“A lead speaker……when the lead speaker of the government's Economic Management Team had to table a lot of things to prove that they are working……you came to give out innuendos…..is that what we need?” he quizzed.

Omanhene believes John Jinapor tried exposing some flaws that Dr Bawumia and his team gave out during the Town Hall meeting organised by the government's Economic Management team but Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Cassiel Ato Forson and Isaac Adongo never said anything meaningful.

To him, it is time politician’s move beyond pettiness and partisanship to discuss real issues affecting the citizens of this country.

Omanhene said that instead of the NDC's Finance and Economic Team subjecting what the government’s Economic Management Team said to real critique, they were rather attacking the personality of Dr Bawumia describing him as ‘Walewale Adams Smith’.

“You don’t need an Economist to tell you that what Adongo was doing was just to serve the party’s interest…most of the speakers were serving the presence of John Dramani Mahama; maybe he will give them appointments if he wins the 2020 elections,” Omanhene said.

The NDC's Economic Lecture Series was organised to deal with what they said were some misleading facts and patent misstatements laced with populist rhetoric by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the head of the government's Economic Management Team (EMT).

The town hall meeting was organised by the EMT in Accra on Wednesday to respond mainly to criticisms on the depreciation of the Cedi.

In a statement issued after the government's event, the General Secretary of the NDC stated that the Finance and Economic Team of the NDC through its leader, Isaac Adongo, will take advantage to address the numerous distortions and lay bare the true facts of the state of the Ghanaian economy.

The NDC's Economic Lecture Series was held at Mensvic Hotel on April 4, 2019.
