Yaw Opoku-Mensah, Spokesperson for former Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has defended the party’s decision to disallow proxy voting in the pending presidential primary, describing the debate as ‘overstretched’ and urging it to end in the interest of party unity.

According to an asaaseradio.com report on November 24, 2025, Opoku-Mensah stressed that Dr Adutwum personally participated in the meeting where the decision was discussed and adopted.

“No aspirant came out to say they were not heard. All five candidates, the national executives, and the council of elders agreed. So, why are we still debating this?” he asked.

He warned that continued disagreements could project an image of disunity.

“We owe a duty to uphold a transparent, credible process. Commentary that undermines the committee’s decision is unnecessary,” he indicated.

On the strength of the Adutwum campaign, Opoku-Mensah insisted the movement was gaining momentum.

“This is a homecoming for Dr Adutwum,” he said, referring to the campaign’s next stop in the Ashanti Region.
