On December 21, 2003, an African Canadian Piano Contest was organized to raise funds for the Humber River Regional Hospital, Finch in Toronto. There were 13 contestants who played various Christmas songs and some had pieces from Bach, Beethoven and Strauss.

The MC for the function was no other person than Miss R. Frimpong-Manso of York University, Toronto, who happens to be Miss Ghana Canada 2003. Dr. Kitakufie, a renowned doctor in Toronto who also happens to be working at the Humber River Regional Hospital was the Chairman for the occassion. He was instrumental in the fund raising and appealed to the community to be supporting such worthy causes. An amount of $2100.00 was donated to the hospital. Out of the 13 contestants, Dr. Kitakufie personally delivered 8 of the children at the hospital. The ages of the contestants was between 7 years to 15 years.

The following 10 children were the pianists: Michael Asante, Abigail Aquino-Annobil, Mike Coffie, Linda Boachie, Eunice Agyarko, Newman Boachie, Eric Osei, Janet Agyarko, Michael Antwi and Jordan Mensah. The 2 singers were Nancy and Anita Asante, and Britanny Coffie was the only violinist. It is our hope that the 3rd Fund Raising will be a big success and also a big help to the hospital and Canada as a whole. It is a thank you to the hospital from the kids who were born there. The 3rd African Canadian Piano Contest 2004 will be in early December.

Thanks a lot for profiling these selfless kids.
