Accra, Sept. 17, GNA - African Connections, Ghana Limited (AC), a non governmental organisation (NGO) on Wednesday presented awards to participants of the "FOCUS ON GHANA 2003" Trade Fair organized at Chicago, Illinois, United States of America in July this year. Thirty businessmen and women took part in the four-day business, trade and investment opportunities workshop and exhibition organized by AC to bring to the fore opportunities for Ghanaian businessmen to strike business deals in the USA with American investors.

Dr Ayesha Hakeem, Executive Director, AC, USA and Managing Director of AC Ghana Limited, said "FOCUS ON GHANA 2003" brought together eminent American businessmen and investors, who expressed their desire to do serious business with Ghanaian entrepreneurs. She said notably among them were the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr., who was full of praise of Ghana's economic growth, which according to him would soon start yielding abundant results to improve the economic conditions of Ghanaians.

Mrs Paulina Elom Williams, Managing Director, NINASH Company Ghana Limited, shared her bad experience she had with another group that organised a similar fair in South Africa last year with the Customs officials in that country.

She said participants at that fair could not remove their goods from the ports until the fair was over and up to date their things were not sent back to them and advised organisers of such trips to put in the necessary measures to forestall future embarrassment.

Among the recipients of the awards were Mr Ken Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin North, Mr Andy Appiah-Kubi, Acting Executive Director, Ghana Free Zones Board, Mrs Agnes Konadu Frimpong and Mr Eugine Ofori-Gyamfi both from Ghana Cocoa Board and Mr David Foster-Forson, Executive Director, Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM). 17 Sept. 03
