Mr. Samuel Paulos, Founder and Director of Gateway 4 Youth, an NGO, has entreated Ghanaians to avoid being insensitive towards their responsibilities as it aids in the slow pace of development.

The former Country Director of Plan Ghana International said all complains go to government to improve the situation whereas the same people complaining refuse to pay taxes that aid the same government to improve the system.

Speaking at the maiden annual forum on the improvement of Quality Healthcare organized by GhanaWeb today, Mr. Paulos referred to the speech of the Minister of Health, Madam Sherry Ayittey, who said government needs about 75 million dollars to improve the healthcare situation in the country.

He asked the audience where they expect government to get that money from if not from the taxes we pay. He asked for a more concerted effort in doing the right thing when it comes to contributing to the state for our own benefit.

The Forum brought together people from the healthcare sector and non-healthcare sector to discuss ways of improving the healthcare system.

The Speakers present at the two-day forum were Dr. Joseph Boateng, a Physician Specialist and Convener of the Forum, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, a pathologist and veteran politician, Dr. Eli Atikpui, Registrar, Medical and Dental Council and Dr. Lydia Dzane-Selby, Director of Claims, NHIS/NHIA.
