Dormaa-Ahenkro(B/A), March 13, GNA - Nana Akosua Fima Dwaben, Queen mother of Dormaa Traditional Area in Brong Ahafo cut the sod to inaugurate a 690 million cedis chapel for Dormaa-Ahenkro branch of Agape Evangelical Church.
Work began on the building that was initiated by Reverend Agyemang Yeboah, Dormaa District Pastor of the church in 1997. Nana Dwaben expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that had existed between religious bodies and the traditional council, which had contributed to the relative peace and tranquility in the district.
She called for respect and protection of the country's culture against adulteration by modernity.
Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Deputy Interior Minister, said the level of tolerance among religious bodies in the district was ideal and urged them to keep it up.
He assured the congregation of Government's commitment to share the national cake equally to benefit all Ghanaians. Reverend Alex Kwasi Gyabaah, General Overseer of the Church urged the congregation to ensure they sustained its growth and development through acceptable behaviours.
Rev Noah Asiedu Yeboah, Area Head of the church, commended Reverend Agyemang Yeboah, for the vision to build the chapel and gave the assurance that the church would assist to accelerate development in the district. Deacon Emmanuel Henneh, Youth Organizer, said the church, begun in Dormaa-Ahenkro with 90 members in 1992. 13 March 07
