Agona Kwanyako (C/R), May 23, GNA - The Agona East District Assembly has embarked on a number of measures to increase its Internal Generated Fund (IGF) to enable it to undertake more development projects. As part of the measures old markets at Agona Kwanyako and Agona Duakwa would be rehabilitated and expanded whilst a modern market complex would also be constructed at Mankrong-Junction as well as the creation of a new taxi rank at Agona Asafo.
Mr John Oremus Arkoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, made this known at a public forum organized jointly by the Assembly and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Agona Kwanyako. He said apart from this, the Revenue Department of the Assembly had aggressively started educational campaign to educate people on the need to honour their tax obligation regularly.
Mr Arkoh said as a new district, revenue mobilization was not easy and indicated the need to let the people understand the essence and importance of tax payment to enable the Assembly to provide the needed infrastructure. He said if the people especially, artisans and other small scale enterprises honoured their taxes, the Assembly would improve its IGF. Mr Adjei Yeboah, Acting NCCE Director for Agona East District, urged the people to endeavour to know the contents of the National Constitution to avoid being cheated and unlawful acts that might affect their welfare.
