Agona Swedru Hospital lacks emergency ward

Agona Swedru, June 30, GNA- Mrs Bernadette Pufaa, the Deputy Director of Nursing Service, has appealed to the government and corporate bodies to help to construct an emergency ward at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital to ensure the effective and safe handling of accident victims.

She said the absence of the facility had forced accident victims to be admitted at the various wards, with its attendant problems. Mr Pufaa made the appeal when the Central Region Rural Banks Ladies Association (CERBRALS) presented a Polytank worth GHC600 Ghana Cedis to the hospital at the weekend at Agona Swedru.

The donation of the poly tank to the hospital formed part of the activities marking the first anniversary celebration of the association. She noted that apart from the emergency or accident ward, the hospital was in need of a generator, bungalows and a bus to convey nurses staying in the surrounding communities of Agona Swedru. According to the Deputy Director of Nursing, the health facility was formerly a clinic so the structures were not up to a hospital status. She expressed appreciation to the association and pledged that the Polytank would be erected at the laundry to curtail the shortage of water at the hospital.

Mrs Prudent Aba Marfo, President of the Central Rural Banks Ladies Association, expressed the hope that more of such donations and support would be given to other organizations in the region. She appealed to the authorities to make use of the poly tank for the benefit of the patients and visitors.
