Agona Swedru, June 1, GNA - The Agona West Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the European Union (EU) has presented a machine worth 7,000 Ghana Cedis, for the processing of poultry feed, to a group of poultry farmers in the Agona Swedru Municipality. The facility, under the sixth micro EU Income Generating Project (IGP) is to ensure that the youth were empowered to enter into small scale industry activities. Mr Felix Jacob Obeng-Forson, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the government was committed to ensuring that small scale industries were well equipped to increase production. He expressed the hope that the machine would produce more feed than was needed to feed the farmers' birds and that of other farmers in the Agona West Municipality. Mr Obeng-Forson said the Assembly would adopt pragmatic measure to support the small scale industries in the area to expand their business and create more jobs opportunities in the municipality. The MCE urged members of the group to take good care of it to enable it serve the purpose for which it was presentation. Mr Isaac Tettey, EU Project Coordinator of Agona West Municipality, said there were more facilities under the programme and urged the youth to take advantage of it to undertake more income generating ventures. He said if this was done, it would reduce the burden on the youth in their efforts to look for non-existing white colour jobs.
