Agudey says Ghanaians should vote for CPP

Asesewa (E/R), Dec 16, GNA- The Presidential candidate for the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Mr George Opesika Agudey, has called on the electorate to vote his party to power to enable it improve the quality of education, health and general conditions of the people.

Addressing a rally at Asesewa on Sunday, he complained about massive unemployment in the country and the resultant armed robbery on the sale of the many industries established by the First Republic by the former NDC government and the same thing being pursued by the NPP.

Mr Aguddey told the people that with the construction of the Akosombo Dam the country's industrial base would have spread to all parts of the country to offer employment to all able-bodied citizens if the CPP government was not overthrown.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Nana Owusu Sekyere, spoke about the slogan of the NPP asking people to reflect on their lifestyle before casting their votes in the 2000 elections and said the government had failed to deliver on its promise and should not be returned to power in 2004.

He compared the price of fuel before the NPP took power with the current prices and asked "is this the so-called positive change they promised us?"

The Upper Manya constituency chairman of the party, Mr Solomon Tekper, called on Ghanaians to vote the CPP to power to bring back the "glorious days that produced the current crop of professionals and diplomats from CPP's fee-free education."
